Residents across southern Colorado will experience a dry and mild day on Tuesday, with afternoon temperatures reaching the 60s and 70s in several valley communities. The weather service noted that winds will remain calm between 5 and 10 miles per hour in most areas. Although some clouds will move in from the mountains, sunshine will persist throughout the afternoon.
In Colorado Springs, the morning low was 39 degrees. The temperature is expected to climb to a high of 68 degrees by mid-afternoon. Skies will feature additional cloud cover, but clear pockets will allow the sun to warm the air. The calm wind conditions will contribute to the stable temperature rise.
Pueblo residents faced a colder start with lows in the 30s. By the time workers head home from their afternoon shifts, temperatures in the city will reach 72 degrees. The forecast indicates that the air will remain dry, with only upper-level clouds developing later in the day. A coat may be necessary for early morning travel, but conditions will become comfortable by late afternoon.
The eastern plains will see highs in the 70s, with morning lows ranging from the 30s to the 40s. Walsenburg and Trinidad will follow a similar pattern, with lows in the lower 40s and highs between 66 and 70 degrees. The mountain regions will remain cooler, with afternoon highs in the 50s and 60s and morning lows below freezing.
The weather pattern is expected to hold steady for the remainder of the work week. Highs will generally stay in the 60s for the next few days. A low-pressure system is approaching the region over the weekend, which could introduce moisture to the I-25 corridor. Meteoricians noted that if this system interacts with the colder air mass, some areas may receive snow.
Temperatures are forecast to drop on Sunday, with highs falling into the 50s. This cooling trend will continue into the beginning of the following week. The exact timing of the weekend system remains uncertain, and the forecast may adjust as the system approaches.
