Two young children were present when a man allegedly stabbed his wife's romantic partner to death in their Anaheim bedroom on Oct. 24, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office. The incident occurred in the 700 block of North Pine Street.
Police charged 34-year-old Ismael Pinedalopez with one felony count of murder and a felony enhancement for the personal use of a weapon. Officers discovered Pinedalopez covered in blood at the scene alongside the victim, 28-year-old Nicholas Garcia of Whittier. Garcia suffered multiple stab wounds from a pocketknife.
The investigation indicates Pinedalopez returned home early from work and confronted Garcia. Police state that Garcia was wearing only underwear while in bed with Pinedalopez's wife. The couple's two-year-old daughter and four-year-old son were in the room during the altercation. Neither the wife nor the children sustained injuries.
Todd Spitzer, the Orange County District Attorney, described the event as a heartbreaking instance of brutality. He noted that violence is never the answer and expressed distress that the children witnessed their father commit the act in their own home.
Pinedalopez is scheduled for an arraignment where he will formally face the charges. A conviction on all counts carries a maximum penalty of 26 years to life in state prison.
