Maggiano's Little Italy at 500 16th St. is closed, but the shutdown is not permanent. A sign on the door reads, "Unfortunately, Maggiano's will be closed until further notice," a notice that prompted questions from diners on social media. General manager Jon Nirenberg said the restaurant is temporarily closing for a few upgrades. A company spokesperson said Wednesday afternoon that the location expects to reopen within the next week.
The 16th Street restaurant opened in 1998 alongside the Denver Pavilions. Maggiano's also runs a location in the Denver Tech Center, according to its website. The chain began in November 1991 at Clark Street and Grand Avenue in Chicago. Brinker International acquired the business in 1995, and the company expanded from there to locations across the country.
Concerns about the downtown Denver location spread after the closure notice appeared. Staff confirmed the closure Wednesday morning, and the company later provided the reopening timeline Wednesday afternoon. The company has not released details about the nature of the upgrades. This story was updated Oct. 28, 2026 to include the reopening timeline.
The company has said it expects to reopen within the next week.
