Persistent Systems opened a new facility in Fort Collins this week.

The New York-based company creates communication and networking hardware for the U.S. military, law enforcement, and federal agencies. The new site supports more than 100 jobs. CEO Herbert Rubens stated that the equipment helps keep forces connected in the field. He noted that the firm works with the Coast Guard and other federal bodies.

Rubens selected Fort Collins for its access to a strong technology workforce. He pointed to graduates from Colorado State University and employees from nearby tech giants like Intel and Broadcom. He described the area as a college town rich in young talent.

Ann Hutchison, CEO of the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce, agreed on the labor market strength. She noted that nearly 25% of the city's population holds a graduate degree. Another 35% has a bachelor's degree. These figures make the region attractive to specialized tech firms.

Sen. John Hickenlooper praised the move for boosting Colorado's defense sector. He said the state excels at building complex structures of companies handling different parts of a mission. Rubens said the new building provides extra space. This allows the company to put its roots in the ground and continue growing in Fort Collins.
