Nevada high school sports fans enter the final stretch of the fall season as state tournaments for boys and girls soccer and girls volleyball commence this week.

The schedule kicks off on Wednesday with the Class 5A girls soccer semifinals at Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas. No. 1 seed Bishop Gorman plays No. 4 seed Centennial at 5 p.m., followed by No. 2 seed Faith Lutheran against No. 3 seed Arbor View at 6:30 p.m.

Bishop Gorman and Faith Lutheran have not played a competitive match in nearly two weeks, as both teams received byes to the state semifinals due to their top standing in the 5A Southern League. The top three teams in that league, including Arbor View, were separated by a single game in the standings during a tightly contested season.

Faith Lutheran seeks a third consecutive 5A title, a feat not accomplished by a single school since Arbor View won five straight 4A titles from 2012 to 2016. The Crusaders hold a 1-0-2 record against Arbor View this season, including a 2-2 draw on Oct. 19 and a 4-1 loss to Centennial on Oct. 21. Bishop Gorman defeated Centennial twice this year, with both victories decided by a single goal. The Gaels last lost to Arbor View 5-1 on Oct. 21.

The 4A girls soccer tournament takes place Friday and Saturday at Spring Valley High School in Las Vegas. Palo Verde defeated Sierra Vista 4-1 to secure the Southern Region title. Palo Verde, with a 17-3 record, faces Reno High at 5 p.m. Friday. Sierra Vista, at 18-3, plays Northern Region champion Galena at 6:45 p.m. The championship match is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday.

Palo Verde lost to Galena in last year's state semifinals before Galena fell to state champion Doral Academy. Sierra Vista's previous state semifinal appearance was in 2014. Palo Verde won back-to-back 4A titles in 2005 and 2006 during the era when Southern and Northern schools had separate state champions.

The 3A girls soccer tournament begins Friday at Reed High School in Reno. Moapa Valley defeated Boulder City 2-0 to win the Southern Region title and make its first state semifinal appearance. Moapa Valley, at 20-5-2, faces two-time defending state champion South Tahoe at 2 p.m. Friday. Boulder City, at 11-3-4, plays Northern Region champion Truckee at noon.

In boys soccer, Arbor View won its first state championship by defeating Palo Verde in penalty kicks to capture the Southern Region title in 5A. Arbor View, at 14-8-3, faces Sparks at 5 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran. Palo Verde, at 16-5-3, plays Northern champion Hug at 6:45 p.m. The title game is at noon Saturday. Arbor View makes its second state semifinal appearance, while Palo Verde is in its fourth consecutive state tournament.

The 4A boys soccer tournament, a Southern-only classification, is hosted by Spring Valley. Defending champion Sunrise Mountain, at 11-2-3, faces Cimarron-Memorial, at 12-9-1, at 5 p.m. Thursday. Green Valley, at 12-4-4, plays Chaparral, at 13-5-10, at 6:45 p.m. Sunrise Mountain seeks a fourth title, while Cimarron-Memorial has not reached a state semifinal since 2015.

The 3A boys tournament is also at Reed High School. Pahrump Valley defeated Virgin Valley 5-2 to win the Southern Region title. Pahrump Valley, at 9-5-1, plays Truckee at 6 p.m. Friday. Virgin Valley, at 17-5-2, faces three-time defending state champion South Tahoe at 4 p.m. Both Southern teams seek their first state titles.

In girls volleyball, Faith Lutheran defeated three-time defending 5A champion Bishop Gorman 3-1 to win the Southern Region title. Faith Lutheran, at 31-7, makes its first state tournament appearance since 2018. The 5A state tournament is at UNR's Virginia Street Gym in Reno. Faith Lutheran plays Carson at 7 p.m. Thursday, while Gorman, at 31-7, plays Northern champion Manogue at 5:20 p.m. The title match is at 1 p.m. Friday.

The 4A girls volleyball tournament is hosted by Sierra Vista High School in Las Vegas. Sierra Vista, at 24-12, is undefeated against Nevada opponents this season. The Mountain Lions face Sky Pointe at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Silverado, at 20-15, plays Desert Oasis, at 22-15, at 6:30 p.m. The title match is at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Silverado lost to Sierra Vista in last year's title game, and Desert Oasis was the only 4A opponent to push Sierra Vista to five sets this season.
