Dem super PAC drops $2.1M in Colorado ad buy
House Majority PAC will spend the funds on TV ads to challenge Republican Jeff Hurd in the state’s 3rd District.

Colorado voters in the 3rd Congressional District will face a surge in television advertising this week. House Majority PAC, a group linked to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, announced it will spend $2.1 million on ads to support Democratic candidate Dwayne Romero against Republican incumbent Jeff Hurd.
The spending decision came as more than 1 million Colorado voters had already cast their ballots. That number represents about a quarter of the state’s active registered electorate. CJ Warnke, a spokesperson for the group, confirmed the late funding boost. The Federal Election Commission likely will not report the new spending for a few days.
Prior to this week, there had been little super PAC support for Romero. The $2.1 million addition sits on top of roughly $300,000 that House Majority PAC had already committed to TV ads in the week before Election Day. Republican groups have already spent more than $3 million in the district to help Hurd.
Much of the Republican funding came from two super PACs tied to President Donald Trump. Safety & Affordability and No Going Back PACs spent a combined $2.5 million in the district through Monday. Those groups used their money primarily to attack Romero.
Recent polling shows the race is essentially tied. This is despite the district’s historical Republican lean. The area covers the Western Slope and extends into Pueblo and southeastern Colorado. Hurd defeated his Democratic opponent by 5 percentage points in 2024. Trump won the district by 10 percentage points in that same election.
