A Buckeye woman appeared in court Wednesday to challenge the charges against her fiancé, who police say coordinated her October home attack through an online chat.
Zarian Dyer, 23, is accused of plotting the Oct. 16 incident with Adrian Ayala, 20, over Reddit. Court documents indicate Dyer provided Ayala with specific instructions on arrival time, parking location, and entry methods. Prosecutors allege Dyer requested a FaceTime video call during the assault, which police state occurred without the woman's consent.
The victim told the judge that Dyer was forced to defend himself against false claims made by Ayala. She argued that her partner was fabricating excuses during his defense. Despite her testimony, police presented messages and other evidence linking Dyer to the plan. The woman broke down in tears while describing the moment she realized a stranger was at her door.
“My security sensor alerted me that my front door was opening,” she said. “Assuming it was my partner returning from bringing in groceries, my daughter and I walked to the door to assist him. Instead, I found a stranger at my door.” She recounted how Ayala asked to use her restroom, then barged into the home and attacked her after she refused. Ayala also faces charges for kicking the woman's 17-month-old daughter.
Ayala, arrested on Oct. 17, has been released from custody with a no-contact order. A judge entered not guilty pleas on his behalf for five counts. Dyer remains in custody with a bond set at $500,000. The victim stated she has lost income and is facing eviction since the arrests.
The hearing took place in the same county where the attack occurred. Dyer’s legal team did not speak to reporters outside the courtroom. The next court date has not yet been scheduled.
