Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota returned to her home state on Friday, two weeks after federal agents searched her Washington, D.C., residence. She cast an early ballot in Minneapolis and later shared a video of a leisurely walk on a lake dock.
Omar posted the footage on X, captioning it, 'Less scrolling, more strolling. Enjoying our beautiful Minnesota lakes.' The clip shows the congresswoman and her husband, Tim Mynett, strolling across a wooden dock surrounded by autumn foliage. They smile, chat, and pose for the camera while she holds a coffee. The video concludes with a montage of still images from the outing.
The visual calm contrasts with the audio track, a Somali hip-hop song titled 'Nimaan Ciilayba Icaaya.' The lyrics boast of strength and the defeat of rivals. According to a translation provided to Fox News Digital, the song states, 'No enemy dares threaten me, wherever I step, they scatter.' The artist, Ilkacase Qays, whose real name is Muse Abdikadir, is described on his website as a U.S.-based Somali singer and rapper. The track features Somali singer Hodan Abdirahman.
A cultural analysis of the song describes it as an example of Somali lyrical poetry focused on pride and bravery. The lyrics use exaggerated imagery to ridicule opponents, portraying them as people who lose sleep and seek supernatural help. One line reads, 'If I draw on it late in the afternoon, by evening, I will have taught you a lesson.' Another verse states, 'You howl like a demon through the night, because you cannot match me!'
Omar reappeared publicly after spending nearly two weeks out of sight following an Oct. 12, 2026, raid by Homeland Security Investigations agents. During the search, federal officers seized her passport and cellphone. She is under investigation for potential fraud related to immigration paperwork submitted by her or her father during her naturalization process. Border czar Tom Homan said last week that Omar could be denaturalized if fraud is proven. Her sister, Sahra Noor, has been interviewed by investigators, and agents have obtained Omar's DNA.
On Friday, media personnel followed Omar as she voted alongside Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison in Minneapolis. The pair then visited the Karmel Mall of Somalia, where they ate lunch with members of the local community and posed for photos. Omar restricted who could reply to her lake video on social media. The only public comment came from former Rep. Cori Bush, who wrote, 'We love this.'
