The Metropolitan Police have opened a wide-ranging search for Anthony Lloyd, a 38-year-old prisoner who escaped from a medical facility in Lewisham on Friday. The force has asked members of the public to avoid approaching him and to dial 999 if they spot the man, who was last seen wearing a grey-blue T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers.

Police stated that Lloyd forced his way out of the health unit shortly after 4:00 pm. A statement issued on Saturday indicated that witnesses saw him heading in the direction of Catford. His final confirmed location was recorded at approximately 4:10 pm on Friday. Detective Superintendent Melanie Pressley is leading the operation and described the man as white with a medium build and short dark hair. She is about 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Lloyd was convicted in 2025 for actual bodily harm related to an incident in Nottinghamshire involving three emergency services workers. He received a 12-month custodial sentence and was transferred to the Lewisham medical facility in September. Pressley noted that the inmate poses a risk to both himself and the public. She urged anyone with information, however small, to contact police urgently to help locate him.

Officers believe Lloyd could be anywhere in London. The search has expanded to include links to Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside. The force is conducting various inquiries to find Lloyd and return him to custody. Members of the public can provide details by calling 999 and quoting the reference CAD4739/23Oct.
