Roope Hintz scored the game-winning goal for the Dallas Stars on Thursday night, securing a 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in overtime. The goal came at 3:47 of the extra period after Miro Heiskanen delivered a breakaway pass. The win occurred at American Airlines Center and ended a tight contest where the Stars trailed for most of the regulation time.

The deciding sequence began with a defensive stop by Jason Robertson. After blocking a Winnipeg scoring chance, Heiskanen received the puck and quickly changed the direction of play. He sent Hintz in alone, and the forward finished the opportunity to put the Stars ahead. The play converted a defensive recovery into an offensive opportunity within seconds.

The game featured a shift in momentum during the second period. Mason Johnston opened the scoring for Winnipeg early in the frame. Gabriel Vilardi and Kyle Connor subsequently answered to put the Jets ahead 2-1. The Stars remained behind until Hintz scored a six-on-five equalizer with two minutes remaining in regulation, forcing the game into overtime.

Statistical data from the match indicated a disparity in offensive pressure. The Stars outshot Winnipeg 38-19. Connor Hellebuyck made 35 saves for the Jets, forcing Dallas to work for each goal. The defensive structure limited Winnipeg's high-quality chances but could not guarantee goals on the other end.

The Stars relied heavily on their top defensive pairing due to an injury to Esa Lindell. Heiskanen played 29 minutes and 20 seconds, while Thomas Harley logged 28 minutes and 27 seconds. Lian Bichsel recorded 17 minutes and 47 seconds. Nils Lundkvist, Tyler Myers, and Kyle Capobianco also appeared on the ice. The heavy minutes for Heiskanen and Harley reflect the team's need for stability on the back end.

Heiskanen finished the game with five shots, one block, and the winning assist. Robertson was credited with a block that initiated the winning play, though he also had a turnover that created a Winnipeg chance earlier in the game. Neither defenseman recorded a goal. The win resolved the immediate contest without establishing a permanent rotation for Lindell's absence.

The Stars will look to manage their defensive workload in upcoming games. The current lineup places a heavy burden on the top pair. No return date for Lindell was announced following the match. The team secured a win with a single finish in overtime, ending the night with a 3-2 record on the scoreboard.
