A violent dispute over a morning commute turned into a physical assault when four men on motorcycles attacked an elderly couple waiting for public transit in the Bronx. The incident occurred just before 5 a.m. on Monday, leaving the woman injured and the pair without their daily essentials.
The suspects fled with a purse containing a debit card, prescription medication, and $100 in cash. The victim, a 61-year-old home attendant, sustained injuries to her stomach and mouth after the riders used firearms to strike her. Her 73-year-old husband was also beaten by two of the attackers.
Emelia Sabah, the daughter of the victims, described the routine that placed her parents at the Gun Hill Road bus stop. Her father, 73, has walked his mother to the stop every weekday morning to ensure she boarded her work bus safely. Sabah stated that the group hit her mother in the stomach and pointed a gun at her while striking her mouth.
Sabah expressed frustration at the suspects' youth and strength, telling them to get their own money rather than robbing an older woman. She noted that her mother, who has 11 grandchildren, is now frightened to take the bus again. Sabah said she wants the four suspects removed from the streets.
The NYPD is actively searching for the four masked riders. The department has asked anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or 1-888-57-PISTA. Tips can also be submitted via the Crime Stoppers website or by direct message to @NYPDTips on X.
