Four people are fighting for their lives after a white Jeep struck a group of pedestrians at a bus stop in Phoenix on Wednesday morning.
The collision occurred around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of 46th Street and Baseline Road. Phoenix Fire Department Captain Mike Johnson II stated that responders found one individual trapped inside the vehicle. Ladder crews performed an extrication to free that person from the wreckage.
Hospital officials report that two adults, a child, and a teenager remain in critical condition. A fifth man was admitted to the hospital in stable condition. A sixth adult involved in the incident declined medical transport at the scene.
Phoenix Police Department investigators believe at least four of the victims were standing at the bus stop waiting for a ride when the vehicle hit them. The department has not released the names of the drivers or the passengers inside the Jeep.
Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the crash. Early indications suggest speed may have played a role in the accident. The intersection remains a focal point for the ongoing inquiry into how the vehicle reached the pedestrian area.
The Phoenix Fire Department and police have confirmed the timeline of events. The white Jeep is the primary vehicle cited in the initial report. No other vehicles have been identified as part of the collision sequence.
