Santa Ana residents have access to two free bulky item drop-off sites on Saturday, November 7, 2026. The City of Santa Ana is hosting these events to allow households to remove large unwanted items without paying a fee. The first location is Heritage Park, situated at 4812 W. Camille Street. The second location is Portola Park, located at 1700 E. Santa Clara Avenue. Both sites will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Participation requires proof of Santa Ana residency. Residents with curbside trash collection are entitled to four free bulky item pickups per year. Each pickup allows for up to four items. The city is offering these drop-off days as an additional option for residents who may have exhausted their annual quota or prefer a one-time service.

Republic Services, which manages the city's waste collection, will handle the logistics. Residents can call (657) 467-6220 for assistance. The city notes that no appointment is necessary for the drop-off events. U-Haul trucks and commercial vehicles are excluded from the free program.

Councilmember Vazquez, who oversees Ward 2, highlighted the upcoming holiday season in a recent newsletter to constituents. The letter encouraged residents to connect with their Neighborhood Associations and participate in local clean-up efforts. Vazquez noted that small acts of kindness and community involvement help strengthen the sense of belonging in Santa Ana.

The newsletter also detailed several community resources available to Ward 2 residents. These include free grocery distributions through Friendly Center and SEVA Collective. A Thanksgiving turkey drive is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, at Villa Fundamental School. The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and does not require pre-registration.

Other upcoming local events include a gingerbread competition at Discovery Cube Orange County, with submissions accepted from November 21 to 29. A free Thanksgiving celebration is organized by Serve the People, offering meals and activities for families. Participants are advised to register in advance due to limited parking and space.

The city also provided contact information for Oscar Gudino, the City Recycling Coordinator, who can assist with local recycling options. Residents can reach him at (714) 647-3328 or via email at ogudino@santa-ana.org. His office is located at 20 Civic Center, Plaza M-21.
