Rain could mark LA's first wet Halloween since 2014
Two weather models disagree on when the rain will arrive, but both point to a wet weekend across Southern California.

A storm system moving toward Southern California could bring rain on Saturday, which would give Los Angeles its first rainy Halloween since 2014. Temperatures across the region are expected to cool through the weekend.
Two forecast models are split on timing. The European Model, known as ECMWF, points to light showers Friday, with the main band of rain arriving Saturday night into Sunday. The American Model, known as GFS, puts the rain on Sunday.
NBC4 Meteorologist Shanna Mendiola said the models typically draw closer together as a system nears. "As we get closer, they kind of start to agree with another and then we can get a better idea of when exactly this is happening," she said. "But I can tell you for sure we're going to have some rain this weekend."
Mendiola described the shift in the forecast this way: "After we say goodbye to the tides, we say hello to all the clouds and the elements coming from the sky. We could get a chance of showers on Friday and then, Halloween weekend, looking like the rain is going to return."
The forecast carries weight for Halloween plans scheduled for Saturday. The last time rain fell on the date in Los Angeles was in 2014, 12 years ago.
