The Philadelphia region will experience a temperature rise of more than 10 degrees above the historical average for late October by Friday.
A broad upper-level ridge is building across the central and eastern United States, keeping high pressure in control of the local forecast through much of the upcoming week. This pattern has dominated the area for more than a week, resulting in a persistent stretch of dry weather with little opportunity for rainfall.
Temperatures are set to climb again Thursday as the ridge strengthens and warmer air moves into the northeast. Highs are forecast to reach 72 degrees Thursday, followed by mid to upper 70s Friday. This would mark one of the warmest days of the month, with humidity levels remaining comfortable despite the heat.
The warmup will be most noticeable during afternoon hours, while clear skies and dry air will allow temperatures to drop overnight. Early forecasts for Halloween point to a mix of sunshine and clouds on Saturday, with temperatures generally in the lower to mid 70s and no significant rain expected.
Conditions for trick-or-treating on Saturday evening look comfortable, with temperatures likely in the 60s. Sunday will feature slightly more cloud cover but remains mild and mainly dry, with highs around 70 degrees. A weak cold front is bringing a modest cooldown to Tuesday and Wednesday, but sunshine and warmer temperatures are expected to return late in the week.
The 7-day forecast shows mostly sunny conditions for Tuesday with a high of 66 and a low of 52. Wednesday will also be mostly sunny with a high of 67 and a low of 45. Thursday brings milder weather with a high of 72 and a low of 49. Friday is forecast to be beautiful with a high of 77 and a low of 52.
Saturday, Halloween, is expected to reach 70 degrees with a low of 51. Sunday will be partly sunny with a high of 72 and a low of 51. Monday brings a chance of showers with a high of 72 and a low of 61.
