Florida Highway Patrol officials confirmed on Friday that Jean S. Dorisca, a 48-year-old Haitian national and lawful permanent resident, has been arrested. Dorisca is wanted for killing three people, including his own mother, in a crash that occurred in Osceola County on July 16, 2024. The department’s Criminal Alien Apprehension Team located him at a residence in Boca Raton on October 28. He was taken into custody the following day during a targeted enforcement operation.
The collision happened along State Road 60 near the border between Polk and Osceola counties. FHP records indicate that Dorisca attempted to pass a semi-truck in a designated no-passing zone. His vehicle struck oncoming traffic, resulting in three deaths. Despite the severity of the crash, Dorisca fled the scene and remained at large for more than two years.
Dave Kerner, the executive director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, addressed the delay in apprehension. Kerner stated that the fugitive had evaded accountability for the deaths of three innocent motorists. He credited the Criminal Alien Apprehension Team for securing the arrest. Kerner added that the capture demonstrates the agency’s commitment to locating dangerous fugitives who threaten public safety.
Dorisca was booked into the Palm Beach County detention center on an outstanding felony warrant issued by Osceola County. He currently awaits extradition to Osceola County to face three counts of vehicular homicide. If convicted on all charges, FHP says Dorisca could face a maximum prison sentence of 45 years. He also faces the potential revocation of his status as a permanent resident.
